Development of novel persulfate tablets for passive trichloroethylene (TCE)-contaminated groundwater remediation

Yu-Chen Chang et al.

Summary: In this study, a biodegradable binder, hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose (HPMC), was used for the first time to develop persulfate-releasing tablets for remediation of TCE-contaminated groundwater. The persulfate tablets showed controlled release of persulfate, which could effectively degrade highly concentrated TCE. The results also demonstrated the biodegradation efficiency of HPMC by microbes under different conditions.

Removal of Acid Yellow 17 from Textile Wastewater by Adsorption and Heterogeneous Persulfate Oxidation

E. Adar

Summary: The study focuses on the removal of AY17 dye in wastewater through adsorption and persulfate oxidation activated by PAC. Experimental results show that the dosage of adsorbent, pH, and reaction time are important parameters for effective removal. The use of PAC as an adsorbent led to a shorter reaction time in the HPS system, with acidic and neutral pH values being more suitable for AY17 removal. Color and COD removal efficiencies reached up to 100-88.4% and 100-96.6% at optimal conditions in both systems.

Effect of natural microbiome and culturable biosurfactants-producing bacterial consortia of freshwater lake on petroleum-hydrocarbon degradation

Irfan Ali Phulpoto et al.

Summary: The freshwater lake ecosystem contains valuable microbial diversity and can help address environmental issues like petroleum-hydrocarbon contamination. This study explored microbial communities from different layers of a freshwater lake and found significant changes in enriched samples, with efficient hydrocarbon-degrading capabilities.
