Bimodal frequency distribution of granular discharge in 2D hoppers

Shuai Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, the fluctuation of gravity-driven hopper flow was investigated through experimental and numerical analysis, revealing different probability density functions for particle discharge under various geometrical and operating conditions. Three modes of particle discharging were identified, and the findings may have implications for the design and operation of high-precision feeding systems.
