Investigation from molecular packing to application of azobenzene disperse dyes on polyester fabrics to realize waterless dyeing

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between the structure and performance of three azobenzene disperse dyes with different substituents. The visible absorption performances were evaluated and analyzed using density functional theory. The dyeing properties of these dyes on polyester fabrics were discussed, and the influence of chemical structure and substituents on solubility, dye uptake, and color fastness was investigated. The results showed that the introduction of cyano group and acetoxethyl substituent significantly improved the dyeing uptake due to their low solubility and strong intermolecular interactions. This research is important for improving the performance of disperse dyes and promoting the sustainable development of the textile industry.

Design, synthesis of novel bisazo disperse dyes: Structure analysis and dyeing performance on PET
