Exogenous application of black cumin (Nigella sativa) seed extract improves maize growth under chromium (Cr) stress

Hafiza Mamona Allah Ditta et al.

Summary: The study found that exogenous application of 20% black cumin extract effectively mitigated the adverse effects of Cr(VI) on maize genotypes, improving maize performance. It was also observed that synthetic and hybrid maize genotypes exhibited different tolerances to Cr(VI) under different concentrations, with the hybrid genotype showing better performance.

Integrated nitrogen management improves productivity and economic returns of wheat-maize cropping system

Naeem Sarwar et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of integrated nitrogen management on productivity and profitability of the wheat-maize cropping system. Results showed that organic fertilizer alone or in combination with inorganic fertilizer and biofertilizer significantly improved root biomass and soil organic carbon, leading to better productivity. The integrated N management strategy with a combination of different N sources improved crop yield, net benefit, and soil organic carbon, suggesting it as a viable and economically sound alternative to conventional N management, enhancing the sustainability of the wheat-maize cropping system.
