Strategies for an improved extraction and separation of lipids and carotenoids from oleaginous yeast

Summary: The study proposes a new strategy for simultaneous recovery and further separation of lipids and carotenoids from oleaginous yeast to decrease processing costs and support industrial applications. Using Rhodosporidium toruloides NRRL Y-1091 strain, the method allowed for high efficiency extraction with additional recovery of proteins.

Effect of Light Intensity and Wavelength on Biomass Growth and Protein and Amino Acid Composition of Dunaliella salina

Summary: This study optimized the production of biomass, protein, amino acids, and carotenoids from Dunaliella salina using a two-stage cultivation approach with different LED light intensities. The results showed that under red LED light, the biomass productivity of D. salina increased significantly, along with an increase in protein concentration and productivity. This indicates that red light has a positive impact on the growth and nutritional yield of D. salina.
