Fangchinoline diminishes STAT3 activation by stimulating oxidative stress and targeting SHP-1 protein in multiple myeloma model

Young Yun Jung et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that fangchinoline (FCN) can attenuate tumor growth and survival by modulating the STAT3 signaling pathway and inducing apoptosis in malignant cells. FCN abrogated protein expression levels of STAT3 and upstream signals, inhibited STAT3 DNA binding ability and translocation, increased SHP-1 levels, induced ROS production, and effectively suppressed tumor progression and STAT3 activation in a preclinical myeloma model.

Fangchinoline targets epithelial-mesenchymal transition process by modulating activation of multiple cell-signaling pathways

Young Y. Jung et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that Fangchinoline (FCN) can inhibit the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in human colon cancer cells, thereby reducing their metastatic and invasive capacities. In addition, FCN can suppress multiple cell signaling pathways, including c-Met/PI3K/Akt/mTOR and Wnt/β-catenin pathways. Therefore, FCN has the potential to be a novel antimetastatic agent against colon cancer.

A Novel Role of Bergamottin in Attenuating Cancer Associated Cachexia by Diverse Molecular Mechanisms

Young Yun Jung et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the potential effects of bergamottin on cancer-cachexia-induced muscle and fat loss, showing significant inhibitory effects on muscle and fat catabolism in both in vitro and in vivo conditions. The results suggest that bergamottin may have a potential impact on cancer cachexia, warranting further investigation in future clinical studies.

Paradoxical functions of long noncoding RNAs in modulating STAT3 signaling pathway in hepatocellular carcinoma

Chakrabhavi Dhananjaya Mohan et al.

Summary: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a deadly cancer with a high mortality rate, and STAT3 plays a crucial role in its development by regulating various genes and cellular functions. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) influence STAT3 signaling through diverse molecular mechanisms, impacting the pathogenesis and progression of HCC.
