Comparative analysis of chemical constituents and bioactivities of the extracts from leaves, seed coats and embryoids of Ginkgo biloba L.

Xuanxuan Chen et al.

Summary: A total of 25 compounds were identified and quantified from Ginkgo leaves, seed coats, and embryoids of trees with different ages. Leaves had the highest amount of bioactive compounds, while seed coats had moderate levels of flavonoids. The effects of tree ages on the bioactive compounds varied among the different parts of the plant.

Unique polyacetylenic ester-neolignan derivatives from Mitrephora tomentosa and their antimalarial activities

Puttandon Wongsomboon et al.

Summary: The phytochemical investigation of Mitrephora tomentosa leaves and twigs led to the isolation and identification of undescribed polyacetylenic ester-neolignan derivatives, named as mitrephentosins A-F. Among these compounds, mitrephentosins C, E, and F showed moderate antimalarial activities and were non-toxic to Vero cells, while the other isolated compounds were inactive against the tested Plasmodium falciparum strains.
