Analytical and numerical studies on a moving boundary problem of non-Newtonian Bingham fluid flow in fractal porous media

Wenchao Liu et al.

Summary: This paper deduces a new non-Darcy kinematic equation with a fractal threshold pressure gradient (TPG) based on fractal theory, for describing the non-Darcy flow of a non-Newtonian Bingham fluid with a threshold in fractal porous media. Mathematical modeling of planar radial non-Darcy flow in a fractal heavy oil reservoir is performed, and both steady and transient solutions are developed. It is found that the moving boundary and pressure distribution in the unsteady state are affected by factors including the fractal dimension.

Enhanced thermal fingering in a shear-thinning fluid flow through porous media: Dynamic pore network modeling

Senyou An et al.

Summary: In this paper, a pore network model is proposed to simulate thermal transport in flow through three-dimensional unstructured pore networks. The study investigates the effects of pore space heterogeneity, injection flow rate, and shear-thinning rheology on thermal-viscous fingering instability in porous media. The results highlight the importance of designing optimal flow conditions for application purposes.

Using Non-Fourier's Heat Flux and Non-Fick's Mass Flux Theory in the Radiative and Chemically Reactive Flow of Powell-Eyring Fluid

Hina Firdous et al.

Summary: The study examines the behavior of convective boundary conditions in three-dimensional Powell-Eyring nanofluids with radiation, chemical reaction, and hydro-magnetic forces, discussing the implications of non-Fourier's heat flux and non-Fick's mass flux with respect to temperature and nanoparticle concentration. The efficient optimal homotopy analysis method is applied to solve the transformed partial differential equations, with tables and graphs providing physically interpreted results for significant parameters.

Role of single slip assumption on the viscoelastic liquid subject to non-integer differentiable operators

Syed Tauseef Saeed et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of heat generation/absorption with single slip assumptions based on Newtonian heating on magnetohydrodynamic time-dependent Maxwell fluid over an unbounded plate embedded in a permeable medium. Fractional treatment of governing equation subject to temperature distribution, shearing stress, and velocity field is developed, tracing out fractionalized analytical solutions through Atangana-Baleanu and Caputo-Fabrizio fractional differential operators. The effect of effective Prandtl number and fractional parameter on temperature with and without single slip assumption reflects control of thickness of momentum and enlargement of thermal conductivity. Magnetic field and relaxation phenomenon have been analyzed on the profile of velocity with and without single slip assumption.

Analysis of blood flow characteristics in fractal vascular network based on the time fractional order

Yanli Chen et al.

Summary: Fractional calculus is effective in describing the mechanical properties of viscoelastic materials and the characteristics of blood flow in fractal blood vessel networks. The effects of time fractional order, Reynolds number, vascular network fractal dimension, and bifurcation series conditions on blood flow in fractal vascular networks were analyzed. The results show that time fractional order can effectively describe the blood flow characteristics of equivalent Casson fluid.

Permeability and thermal conductivity models of shale matrix with a bundle of tortuous fractal tree-like branching micropore networks

Bowen Hu et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the permeability and thermal conductivity of shale matrix with a bundle of tortuous fractal tree-like micropore networks. New models are developed to accurately predict gas transport and heat transfer in such complex pore structures, with the permeability model showing higher accuracy compared to traditional models. Various parameters such as tortuosity fractal dimension, radius fractal dimension, length ratio, and radius ratio have significant impacts on permeability and thermal conductivity, while branching angle is found to have an insignificant effect on these properties.

Summary: This article focuses on the slip effect in unsteady flow of MHD Oldroyd-B fluid over a moving vertical plate, using fractional time derivatives to analyze the impact of fractional parameters on fluid dynamics. MHD Maxwell Fluid with Heat Transfer Analysis under Ramp Velocity and Ramp Temperature Subject to Non-Integer Differentiable Operators

Thabet Abdeljawad et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the impact of heat generation/absorption with ramp velocity and ramp temperature on magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) time-dependent Maxwell fluid over an unbounded plate embedded in a permeable medium. New fractional differential operators are used to define ramped temperature and ramped velocity, with the results showing that the fractional-order model is best to explain memory effects compared to classical models. Increasing effective Prandtl number leads to a decrease in velocity profile, while Atangana-Baleanu derivative in Caputo sense (ABC) highlights the dynamics of the fluid. Influence of pertinent parameters on velocity and energy profile are analyzed graphically, and expressions for skin friction and Nusselt number are derived for fractional differential operators.
