The preparation of mono- and multicomponent nanoparticle aggregates with layer-by-layer structure using emulsion templating method in microfluidics

Martina Jezkova et al.

Summary: Multicomponent hollow aggregates were prepared using an emulsion templating method adapted to microfluidic format, with IO and Au NPs in an inner inorganic shell covered with PCL NPs. Smaller aggregates were achieved compared to immiscible phases due to diffusion controlled shrinkage, with surface properties controlled by the mobilities and affinities of IO, Au, and PCL NPs. The biocompatible surface layer and inorganic shell with core space for cargo loading make these constructs advantageous for medicinal applications.

Viscosity Ratio Influence on Liquid-Liquid Flow in a T-shaped Microchannel

Alexander V. Kovalev et al.

Summary: Experimental study shows that different viscosity ratios lead to different flow patterns of liquid-liquid flow in T-shaped microchannels, with negligible influence on the velocity and length of plug flow pattern. Despite significant interface deformations, the viscosity ratio has little impact on the plug length and velocity.

Experimental Studies of Droplet Formation Process and Length for Liquid-Liquid Two-Phase Flows in a Microchannel

Li Lei et al.

Summary: The study experimentally investigated changes in droplet formation mechanism and length in a liquid-liquid two-phase system, finding that droplet length is influenced by continuous phase viscosity, volume flow rate, and capillary number. Different flow parameters lead to distinct droplet formation mechanisms and lengths in the system.

Generation of Droplets in Double T-Shaped Microchannels with Necked Structures

Yaolong Zhang et al.

Summary: The influence of the constriction structure of microchannels on droplet formation was studied through 3D numerical simulation. Microchannels with necked structures can generate smaller droplets with faster frequency. Among the three structures, the trapezoidal necking microchannel performs the best, producing monodisperse droplets of uniform size with stable period.

Prediction of droplet sizes in a T-junction microchannel: Effect of dispersed phase inertial forces

Santosh Kumar Jena et al.

Summary: The generation of monodispersed droplets in T-junction microchannels is influenced by forces from the continuous phase, dispersed phase, and interfacial forces. The theoretical analysis also takes into account the inertial forces from the dispersed phase, demonstrating that droplet size can be effectively described by non-dimensional numbers.
