Soliton trains after interaction quenches in Bose mixtures

Andre Cidrim et al.

Summary: In this study, the quench dynamics of a two-component Bose mixture was investigated, with a focus on the modulational instability and generation of bright solitons. The analytical estimates of soliton numbers based on the Bogoliubov spectrum were compared to simulations, showing good agreement under specific conditions. Differences in soliton dynamics were explained by variations in intraspecies interaction and loss rates, particularly in a homonuclear potassium mixture. Beyond-mean-field contributions were evaluated in relation to the evolution of particle number and radial width of the mixture, revealing no dynamic formation of solitonic droplets even with strong attractive effective interactions.

Polarized and unpolarized phases of spin-orbit-coupled Bose-Einstein condensates in optical lattice

Yan-Fang Jiang et al.

Summary: This study analytically obtained the critical condition for phase transition of Bose-Einstein condensates with equal-weight Rashba and Dresselhaus spin-orbit coupling in a one-dimensional optical lattice, revealing rich competitive relationships. The change in energy minima and phase transition point by the optical lattice was found to depend on atomic interactions and spin-orbit coupling. The theoretical evidence provided a deep understanding of the competition mechanism between optical lattice and spin-orbit coupling for ground state phase transition.

Spatiotemporal engineering of matter-wave solitons in Bose-Einstein condensates

Emmanuel Kengne et al.

Summary: The article discusses the experimental and theoretical investigations of bright and dark matter-wave solitons, coherent structures, modulational instability, and nonlinear excitation in Bose-Einstein condensates trapped in optical potentials, as well as the development of efficient schemes for spatiotemporal modulation of coefficients in nonlinear Schrodinger equations to engineer robust nonlinear modes.

Generation of matter waves in Bose-Bose mixtures with helicoidal spin-orbit coupling

Conrad Bertrand Tabi et al.

Summary: The paper investigates the modulational instability (MI) of helicoidal spin-orbit coupled Bose-Bose mixtures both theoretically and numerically. It identifies the growth rate of MI through linear stability analysis and explores the effects of spin-orbit coupling, helicoidal gauge potential, and interatomic interactions on MI regions. The study finds that under proper balance between nonlinear and dispersive effects, solitonlike objects can be obtained with sensitivities to parameter variations.
