Lattice QCD Study of Transverse-Momentum Dependent Soft Function

Yuan Li et al.

Summary: In this work, we study the intrinsic, rapidity-independent soft function within the framework of large momentum effective theory using lattice QCD. After renormalization and removal of higher-twist contamination, we obtain an intrinsic soft function that is comparable to the one-loop perturbative result at large external momentum. Determining the nonperturbative soft function from first principles is crucial for our understanding of processes with small transverse momentum.

The 3-dimensional distribution of quarks in momentum space

Alessandro Bacchetta et al.

Summary: We present the distribution of unpolarized quarks in a transversely polarized proton in three-dimensional momentum space. Our results are based on the extractions of the unpolarized and Sivers transverse momentum dependent parton distributions (TMDs) in a fully consistent TMD framework.

Parton distributions and lattice-QCD calculations: Toward 3D structure

Martha Constantinou et al.

Summary: The theory of quantum chromodynamics (QCD) describes the strong force binding hadrons together. Parton distribution functions (PDFs) have been successful in describing collinear partons within hadrons, but new experiments are exploring the transverse structure using generalized parton distributions (GPDs) and transverse-momentum-dependent parton distribution functions (TMD PDFs). Different methods, including perturbative QCD factorization theorems and lattice-QCD calculations, are used to determine PDFs and generalize the understanding of hadron structure.

A hybrid renormalization scheme for quasi light-front correlations in large-momentum effective theory

Xiangdong Ji et al.

Summary: In LaMET, parton physics in hadrons of momentum Pz is calculated by computing coordinate-space-z correlation functions that need proper renormalization to deal with linear and logarithmic divergences in lattice spacing. A hybrid renormalization procedure is introduced to match lattice correlations to those in the continuum MS scheme without introducing non-perturbative effects. Extrapolating lattice data to the asymptotic z-region based on generic properties of coordinate space correlations at moderate and large Pz is recommended to obtain momentum-space distributions.

Self-renormalization of quasi-light-front correlators on the lattice Lattice Parton Collaboration (LPC)

Yi-Kai Huo et al.

Summary: This study investigates the renormalization of large-momentum effective theory using different fermion formulations on the lattice, and proposes a strategy to address the issue of linear divergences. The results indicate that renormalization factors are universal in hadron state matrix elements, while physical matrix elements appear independent of the fermion formulation.

Large-momentum effective theory

Xiangdong Ji et al.

Summary: The large-momentum effective theory (LaMET) offers a new way to extract parton physics from proton properties through Lorentz symmetry. It provides an alternative to the standard formalism of partons by allowing for the extraction of various partonic observables through effective field theory matching and running. Future lattice QCD calculations could further enhance our understanding of hadronic structure and experimental data related to proton parton distribution.

Determination of the Collins-Soper Kernel from Lattice QCD

Maximilian Schlemmer et al.

Summary: This study presents lattice results for the non-perturbative Collins-Soper (CS) kernel, which describes the energy-dependence of transverse momentum-dependent parton distributions (TMDs). The CS kernel was extracted from ratios of first Mellin moments of quasi-TMDs evaluated at different nucleon momenta using dynamical N-f = 2 + 1 clover fermions for the CLS ensemble H101. The computed CS kernel shows good agreement with experimental extractions and previous lattice studies.

Renormalization and mixing of staple-shaped Wilson line operators on the lattice revisited

Yao Ji et al.

Summary: Transverse-momentum-dependent parton distribution functions and wave functions can be extracted from lattice calculations using appropriate Euclidean matrix elements of staple-shaped Wilson line operators. This study investigates the mixing patterns of these operators under lattice renormalization, revealing mixings not accounted for in one-loop lattice perturbation theory calculations. The one-loop matching presented in a renormalization scheme is designed to not introduce extra nonperturbative effects at large distances, potentially simplifying numerical calculations of TMDPDFs and TMDWFs on the lattice.

RI/MOM renormalization of the parton quasidistribution functions in lattice regularization

Kuan Zhang et al.

Summary: The study found that the cancellation of 1/a divergence deteriorates with decreasing lattice spacing, and the RI/MOM method leaves a linearly divergent residue when dealing with quasi-PDFs. Additionally, in the Landau gauge, the interaction between the Wilson link and the external state leads to a linear divergence that depends on the discretized fermion action.
