Global correlation and local information flows in controllable non-Markovian open quantum dynamics

Xin-Yu Chen et al.

Summary: In a controllable experiment platform, the non-Markovian open quantum dynamics is studied from both global and local aspects. By mixing random unitary dynamics, both non-Markovian and Markovian open quantum dynamics are demonstrated. The transition from Markovianity to non-Markovianity is measured by the quantum mutual information (QMI), while the quantum Fisher information (QFI) flow is used to locally characterize the non-Markovianity in different channels.

Quantum Zeno and Anti-Zeno Probes of Noise Correlations in Photon Polarization

Salvatore Virzi et al.

Summary: For the first time, we experimentally demonstrate noise diagnostics by repeated quantum measurements, showing the ability of a single photon to diagnose non-Markovian temporal correlations of random polarization noise. We probe the photon with frequent (partially) selective polarization measurements to diagnose both the noise spectrum and temporal correlations. Positive temporal correlations correspond to a regime enabled by the quantum Zeno effect (QZE), while negative correlations correspond to regimes associated with the anti-Zeno effect (AZE).

Heisenberg-Limited Quantum Metrology Using Collective Dephasing

Shingo Kukita et al.

Summary: Quantum metrology aims to estimate parameters using quantum properties, with decoherence during the process typically degrading performance but potentially being exploited to improve sensitivity under suitable conditions. A protocol utilizing Markovian collective dephasing is shown to achieve Heisenberg-limited sensitivity in estimating relative angles, and is robust against environmental noise, offering alternative applications in quantum metrology.

Efficient quantum simulation of open quantum dynamics at various Hamiltonians and spectral densities

Na-Na Zhang et al.

Summary: Simulation of open quantum dynamics for various photosynthetic systems shows that different spectral densities can impact energy transfer efficiency, and specific geometries and energy gaps can optimize energy transfer. The proposed approach proves to be universal for simulating the exact quantum dynamics of photosynthetic systems.

Quantum Metrology for Non-Markovian Processes

Anian Altherr et al.

Summary: This letter establishes a general framework for non-Markovian quantum metrology, deriving a formula for extracting maximal quantum Fisher information from parametrized non-Markovian processes on finite-dimensional systems. An algorithm is designed to evaluate this information using semidefinite programming. The framework is applied to noisy frequency estimation, showing better performance in non-Markovian scenarios compared to Markovian ones.

Quantum metrology with one auxiliary particle in a correlated bath and its quantum simulation

Wan-Ting He et al.

Summary: In this paper, a measurement scheme with a single auxiliary qubit is proposed to selectively offset environmental noise effect for improved precision in parameter estimation. The scheme can approach the Heisenberg limit when prepared in a proper auxiliary state, and shows superiority over other proposals with less resources. Further discussions on utilizing auxiliary states to enhance measurement precision in various environment models are also presented.
