Potato cyst nematode-infected soil as a source of egg and cyst parasitic fungi as potential biocontrol agents

Siwi Indarti et al.

Summary: Parasitic fungi in PCN-infected soil may suppress PCN population by parasitizing cysts or eggs, but heat treatment of soil eliminates the biological activity of these fungi against PCN cyst population, while baiting soil with PCN cysts promotes the parasitic activity of the fungi in the infected soil.

Bacillus is one of the most potential genus as a biocontrol agent of golden cyst nematode (Globodera rostochiensis)

Donny Widianto et al.

Summary: This study examined the nematicidal ability of forty-five bacterial isolates from potato cultivation lands in Indonesia, identifying several strains with the potential to be biocontrol agents for the golden cyst nematode. These strains showed significant differences in protease and chitinase specific activity compared to the control, indicating their potential as biocontrol agents.

Evaluation of trap crop, Solanum sisymbriifolium and antagonistic crops against potato cyst nematodes, Globodera spp.

Priyank Hanuman Mhatre et al.

Summary: Potato cyst nematodes are highly damaging to potato crops, and using trap crops like Solanum sisymbriifolium is an effective method for control. In addition, compared to antagonistic crop species like marigold, garlic, and mustard, the trap crop showed lower nematode populations in two successive seasons.

Recent advances in the biological control of citrus nematodes: A review

K. Kiran Kumar et al.

Summary: Parasitic nematodes are significant pests of citrus worldwide, and various microbes and soil-dwelling predatory mites have been evaluated as biological control agents against them. Fungi and bacteria-based bionematicides have been developed and marketed for use in citrus crops, showing promise for enhanced management of citrus parasitic nematodes with reduced environmental toxicity. Integration of bionematicides with other management tools and conservation of indigenous antagonists are also important strategies discussed.
