Multipole-phase division multiplexing

Gianluca Ruffato et al.

Summary: The control of structured waves has led to innovative scenarios in radiation propagation, imaging, and light-matter interaction, with beams carrying orbital angular momentum playing a key role. Introducing a new family of wave fields with multipole phase, controlled through conformal optics, offers novel solutions for space division multiplexing.

Optical trapping with non-diffracting Airy beams array using a holographic optical tweezers

Rafael A. B. Suarez et al.

Summary: This work presents the experimental optical trap of microparticles with an Airy beams array using holographic optical tweezers. By controlling the launch angle parameter of Airy beams, the gradient and scattering forces acting on microparticles can be manipulated for greater stability of the optical trap. This system shows interesting possibilities for trapping and guiding microparticles in a controllable way that can be applied in optical, biological, and atmospheric sciences.

Arbitrary Conformal Transformations of Wave Functions

G. Ruffato et al.

Summary: This paper proves that any conformal transformation of a wave can be produced through a cascade of discrete phase elements satisfying Laplace's equation, with the specific implication for charged-matter waves being the use of electrostatic or magnetostatic phase elements. Additionally, the basis for generating such phase elements is shown to be integer and fractional charge multipoles, allowing for efficient sorting of multipole-induced quantum states. The results hold true in optics and for charged-particle beams of sufficient coherence, providing a fast and direct method for measuring dipole systems and astigmatism.

Roulette caustics in transformation optics of structured light beams

Gianluca Ruffato et al.

Summary: This paper analyzes the caustics generated by conformal transformations of structured light beams, focusing on log-pol mapping and circular sector transformations. Using analytical models and numerical simulations, it shows how the generated caustics find the correct description in the framework of the roulette curves.

Propagation-invariant space-time caustics of light

Liang Jie Wong

Summary: Space-time caustics combine the propagation invariance of space-time wavepackets with the flexible design of caustics, allowing for customizable intensity patterns. Our method provides the phase distribution needed to realize user-designed caustic patterns in space-time wavepackets, leading to a broad range of intriguing optical phenomena.
