This study focused on simulating the collision of the hull structure using inclined penetration tests and uniaxial tensile tests. The researchers established a finite element model and summarized the relationship between bearing capacity and angle.
To simulate the collision of the hull structure, inclined penetration tests of the stiffened plate made of AH32 steel were carried out. A reusable foundation with a plane of 15 degrees was fabricated to fix the scaled stiffened plate. The uniaxial tensile tests were conducted to obtain the material parameters. The hardening model as well as the criterion for the damage initiation and evolution were established based on the uniaxial tensile tests for the finite element analysis. The finite element model was established based on the regular and circular arranged meshes, where the circular meshed model exhibited better predictability in the generation of the crack as well as the development of the bearing capacity of the stiffened plate. The simulations of penetration under the different impact angles were carried out based on the proposed numerical model, and the relationship between the bearing capacity and the angle was summarized.
