Ameliorating effect of melatonin on mercuric chloride-induced neurotoxicity in rats

Eman S. Said et al.

Summary: Mercury is a highly toxic metal that induces toxicity via reactive oxygen species. This study found that mercuric chloride reduced antioxidant enzyme activity and increased oxidative stress levels. Melatonin effectively improved the neurotoxic effects caused by mercuric chloride on rat brain tissues.

Vanillic Acid, a Bioactive Phenolic Compound, Counteracts LPS-Induced Neurotoxicity by Regulating c-Jun N-Terminal Kinase in Mouse Brain

Rahat Ullah et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that vanillic acid (V.A) exhibits neuroprotective effects against lipopolysaccharides (LPS)-induced neuroinflammatory processes by inhibiting the JNK signaling pathway mediated by LPS/RAGE. Furthermore, V.A was found to attenuate synaptic loss and improve memory performance induced by LPS, suggesting its potential as a neuroprotective and neurotherapeutic agent for various neurological disorders.

Carveol a Naturally-Derived Potent and Emerging Nrf2 Activator Protects Against Acetaminophen-Induced Hepatotoxicity

Zaif Ur Rahman et al.

Summary: Carveol showed protective effects in liver injury induced by APAP overdose by activating the Nrf2 pathway and boosting endogenous antioxidant mechanisms. The inhibition of Nrf2 using ATRA exacerbated APAP toxicity and nullified carveol's protective effects, leading to increased inflammation and liver toxicity biomarkers. Virtual docking of carveol with Nrf2-keap1 target further supported the in vivo findings, suggesting carveol as a potential therapeutic agent for APAP-induced inflammation and oxidative stress.

Summary: The study investigated the anti-convulsant effect of the n-hexane extract of Rosa webbiana fruit in an animal model of epilepsy, showing significant impact on convulsive behavior, survival rate of rats, and downregulation of neuro-inflammation, tumor necrosis factor alpha, and nuclear factor kappa B. Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry analysis revealed multiple interesting constituents in the extract, including esters, alkanes, and amines.
