Simultaneous detection of vesicular content and exocytotic release with two electrodes in and at a single cell

Chaoyi Gu et al.

Summary: A new technique was developed to simultaneously monitor and compare the storage and release of vesicular neurotransmitters in a neuroendocrine cell line. This technique allowed for the investigation of dynamic changes in vesicular transmitter content during chemical stimulation, providing insights into the reloading time scale of vesicles. Additionally, the effect of l-DOPA on vesicular storage alteration was studied, revealing a potential mechanism for plasticity in the exocytotic machinery.
