Chemogenetic modulation of histaminergic neurons in the tuberomamillary nucleus alters territorial aggression and wakefulness

Fumito Naganuma et al.

Summary: Activation or inhibition of HA(TMN) neurons significantly affects locomotor activity, aggressive behaviors, and the sleep-wake cycle in mice. Chemoactivation of HA(TMN) increases wakefulness and aggression while decreasing NREM sleep, whereas chemoinhibition has the opposite effects. These findings suggest the important role of HA(TMN) neurons in regulating exploratory activity, territorial aggression, and vigilance.
