Large scale synthesis of full-color emissive carbon dots from a single carbon source by a solvent-free method

Hui Ding et al.

Summary: This work demonstrates a solvent-free large scale synthesis method for CDs with high QY, tunable PL emission, and production yield. The optical properties of the CDs can be modulated by controlling the deamination and dehydrogenation processes during reactions. Additionally, WLEDs with high CRI across the visible range are successfully fabricated by mixing the red, green, and blue emissive CDs into PVA matrix in appropriate ratios.

Carbon Dot Powders with Cross-Linking-Based Long-Wavelength Emission for Multicolor Imaging of Latent Fingerprints

Ruonan Wang et al.

Summary: A simple and convenient method for preparing multicolor carbon dot solutions using neutral red as the carbon and nitrogen sources was proposed in this study. The addition of the cross-linking agent PVP significantly improved the fluorescence quantum yields of the CD powders. The conjugate structure of neutral red and increased hydrophobicity were identified as the reasons for the long-wavelength emission of the CD powders. Furthermore, successful multicolor imaging of latent fingerprints was achieved on complex background surfaces, demonstrating the potential of these carbon-based phosphors in forensic investigation, bioimaging, and sensing fields.
