Pressure-induced photoluminescence enhancement and ambient retention in confined carbon dots

Qing Lou et al.

Summary: Carbon dots confined within sodium hydroxide exhibit enhanced photoluminescence under high pressure, which can be retained after pressure release. The enhancement in emission is mainly attributed to the spatial separation and nonradiative pathway restriction caused by the sodium hydroxide matrix.

Continuous hydrothermal flow synthesis of S-functionalised carbon quantum dots for enhanced oil recovery

Ioan-Alexandru Baragau et al.

Summary: There is currently a lack of research and application of carbon-based nanomaterials for enhanced oil recovery. The use of sulfur-functionalized carbon quantum dots (S-CQDs) can significantly improve oil recovery rates in oil fields. S-CQDs exhibit excellent colloidal stability, low surface retention, and small particle size, which can effectively enhance oil recovery efficiency.

Pore structure and fluid saturation of near-oil source low-permeability turbidite sandstone of the Dongying Sag in the Bohai Bay Basin, east China

Fan Qing et al.

Summary: The study focused on the near-oil source low-permeability turbidite sandstone reservoirs in the Es-3 member of the Dongying Sag in eastern China. Results showed that the reservoirs are mainly composed of fine sandstone and siltstone with medium to low porosity and extra-low to ultra-low permeability, with complex pore structures dominated by intergranular pores. Different pore structure types have varying effects on fluid saturation, with a positive correlation between pore structure and oil saturation in the reservoirs above the oil-water contact.

Water-based nanofluid-alternating-CO2 injection for enhancing heavy oil recovery: Considering oil-nanofluid emulsification

Changxiao Cao et al.

Summary: The study investigated the efficiency of CO2 flooding in low-permeability heavy oil reservoirs using a NWAG injection process, which significantly reduced displacement pressure and increased oil recovery compared to traditional WAG injection. The addition of silica nanoparticles improved the interaction between heavy oil and CO2, enhancing interfacial adsorption and altering the emulsion structure. This research provides new insights into the high-efficiency exploitation of low-permeability heavy oil reservoirs.

A deep investigation into the structure of carbon dots

Keenan J. Mintz et al.

Summary: Carbon dots have been studied for their structure and properties, comparing three promising types in biomedicine to develop structural models for each nanosystem. The data revealed that black CDs and carbon nitride dots are more functionalized, disordered, and amorphous compared to yellow CDs. These models can be used to analyze CD emission properties and understand the structure-property relationship in CDs.
