Suppression of Superconductivity and Nematic Order in Fe1-ySe1-xSx (0=x=1; y =0.1) Crystals by Anion Height Disorder

Aifeng Wang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that in Fe-based superconductors, the correlation between Tc and anion height is disrupted in alloyed crystals, and instead, the disorder in Fe vibrations orthogonal to the Fe planes along the crystallographic c-axis is correlated with changes in Tc and the tetragonal-to-orthorhombic transition Ts. The disorder is caused by random S substitution, resulting in deformed Fe(Se,S)(4) tetrahedra, which suppress Tc and Ts.

Thermoelectricity and electronic correlation enhancement in FeS by light Se doping

Yu Liu et al.

Summary: We report thermoelectric studies on FeS1-xSex superconducting single crystals, which exhibit high irreversibility fields and critical current density comparable to materials with higher superconducting critical temperatures. Substituting selenium in FeS results in significant improvements in Tc/Tf ratio and effective mass, indicating an increase in electronic correlation of the bulk conducting states. First-principle calculations show an increase in the density of states at the Fermi level in FeS0.94Se0.06 compared to FeS, which is related to both iron and chalcogen-derived electronic states.

Defect Engineering of Two-Dimensional Transition-Metal Dichalcogenides: Applications, Challenges, and Opportunities

Qijie Liang et al.

Summary: This review article highlights the role of chalcogen atomic defects in engineering 2D TMDs, particularly focusing on device performance improvements. Various approaches for creating chalcogen atomic defects and their effects on optical, electrical, and magnetic properties are systematically overviewed. The dynamic evolution and repair of chalcogen atomic defects are also discussed, along with perspectives on challenges and opportunities in the field.

Nanoscale Disorder Generates Subdiffusive Heat Transport in Self-Assembled Nanocrystal Films

James K. Utterback et al.

Summary: The study reveals that heat transport at the nanoscale appears subdiffusive due to the tortuosity of heat flow caused by a distribution of nonconductive voids. This finding suggests that heat can navigate circuitous pathways in disordered films of gold nanocrystals.

Hydrothermal synthesis and complete phase diagram of FeSe1-xSx (0 ≤ x ≤ 1) single crystals

Xiaolei Yi et al.

Summary: FeSe1-xSx single crystals were successfully synthesized using a hydrothermal method, and a complete phase diagram was obtained. With increasing sulfur doping x, nematicity is suppressed, a superconducting dome appears, and superconductivity is continuously suppressed outside the nematic phase, reaching a minimum at x = 0.45.
