Formation of supermassive black holes in galactic nuclei - II. Retention and growth of seed intermediate-mass black holes

Abbas Askar et al.

Summary: This study explores the formation of nuclear stellar clusters (NSCs) and the seeding mechanism of supermassive black holes (SMBHs). By simulating observed galaxy populations, it is found that this mechanism can explain the diversity of SMBH masses and provide the occupation fraction of SMBH seeds in different galaxies.

Summary: This study investigates the dynamical evolution stages of EGGCs based on simulated 12-Gyr-old GCs from the MOCCA Survey Database, using structural parameters to distinguish between different states. The best distinction is achieved by considering central parameters, highlighting the importance of at least three structural parameters for distinguishing between EGGCs' dynamical states.

Formation of supermassive black holes in galactic nuclei - I. Delivering seed intermediate-mass black holes in massive stellar clusters

Abbas Askar et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that intermediate-mass black holes can efficiently sink to the center of a cluster and merge into binaries through gravitational wave emission. If two intermediate-mass black holes are ejected from the cluster after merging, a supermassive black hole may not form in the cluster. This process may explain the absence of supermassive black holes in some galactic nuclei that contain nuclear stellar clusters.
