Simultaneous and trace level quantification of two potential genotoxic impurities in valsartan drug substance using UPLC-MS/MS

Shuhong Li et al.

Summary: A sensitive and selective UPLC-MS/MS method was developed for the identification and quantification of two potential genotoxic impurities in valsartan. The method showed good linearity and accuracy, meeting the requirements of ICH guidelines. Expert knowledge rules and statistical evaluation systems were used to assess genotoxicity and set standard limits for the impurities.

Validated Modernized Assay for Foscarnet in Pharmaceutical Formulations Using Suppressed Ion Chromatography Developed through a Quality by Design Approach

Ngoc Phuoc Dinh et al.

Summary: Inspired by the USP monograph modernization initiative, a quality by design approach incorporating design of experiments and multivariate data analysis was used to develop and validate an assay for foscarnet sodium injection solution. The assay, based on ion chromatography with suppressed conductivity detection, was successfully validated according to ICH guidelines, showing a wide linear range and high repeatability. A multivariate assessment revealed the assay was robust and easily transferable between laboratories, even when using different liquid chromatography instrument types.
