Expansion of Cyclophyllidea Biodiversity in Rodents of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and the Out of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Hypothesis of Cyclophyllideans

Yao-Dong Wu et al.

Summary: Cyclophyllidea is the most species-rich order of tapeworms, with significant health impact on wildlife, livestock, and humans. Through collection and sequencing of specimens from rodents in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, several putative new species were identified. Additionally, three known species were found, suggesting their wide distribution in western China. The divergence time estimates indicate a strong association between species differentiation and biogeographic changes resulting from the uplift of the QTP, supporting the hypothesis of host-parasite co-evolution.

Posttranslational regulation of multiple clock-related transcription factors triggers cold-inducible gene expression in Arabidopsis

Satoshi Kidokoro et al.

Summary: Cold stress induces changes in gene expression in plants, with DREB1 genes being activated under such conditions. Proteins related to the plant circadian clock are found to be transferred to the nucleus under cold stress, acting as direct transcriptional activators for DREB1. Posttranslational regulation of clock-related transcription factors is identified as the trigger for cold-inducible gene expression, revealing the complex relationship between the plant circadian clock and cold stress response mechanisms.

Study on life histroy traits of Stellera chamaejasme provide insights into its control on degraded typical steppe

Lizhu Guo et al.

Summary: This study surveyed and studied different age classes of Stellera chamaejasme plants in a degraded steppe in China, describing variation in phenotypic traits, biomass increase, biomass allocation, reserves, and nutrient content. The research found that most phenotypic traits and biomass of organs increased in different patterns with age class. The results emphasize that management of Stellera chamaejasme should focus not only on individual plants in non-reproductive phases, but also on the belowground part of the plant in the reproductive phase.

Evolutionary origin of species diversity on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau

Kang-Shan Mao et al.

Summary: The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau has exceptional species diversity, with various studies exploring the reasons for species formation in the region and the environmental adaptation of high-altitude species. Despite disputes, research has shown that the uplift of the plateau is heterogeneous and supported by abundant fossils for an asynchronous upheaval model. Genomic evidence has identified numerous candidate genes for high-altitude adaptation.

Genome-wide analysis of butterfly bush (Buddleja alternifolia) in three uplands provides insights into biogeography, demography and speciation

Yong-Peng Ma et al.

Summary: Investigating the disjunction within Buddleja alternifolia revealed three distinct genetic lineages corresponding to different regions, indicating allopatric speciation facilitated by geographic isolation and divergent adaptation. The speciation process may involve gene flow between populations across mountain barriers, with past contraction and expansion events possibly linked to climatic fluctuations. Several adaptive genes have been identified, suggesting local adaptations and providing insights into plant biogeography and speciation processes.
