Sol-gel synthesized siloxane hybrid materials for display and optoelectronic applications

Yun Hyeok Kim et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a new type of material called sol-gel-derived siloxane hybrid material (Hybrimer), which exhibits the flexibility and mechanical toughness of plastics, as well as the thermal and mechanical resistance of glass. By controlling organic functional groups and the sol-gel reaction and polymerization steps, the properties of the material can be easily optimized. It can be applied in various display and optoelectronic applications such as patterning, passivation, glass-fabric reinforced film, and color conversion films.

Cs selectivity and adsorption reversibility on Ca-illite and Ca-vermiculite

Christelle Latrille et al.

Summary: The study found that Ca-illite exhibited higher adsorption affinity for Cs compared to Ca-vermiculite, with non-linear adsorption behavior and multi-site exchange model playing a key role. High-selective and low-capacity sites were responsible for Cs uptake at low concentrations, while high-capacity sites dominated Cs adsorption at higher concentrations. Adsorption reversibility was demonstrated for illite at a certain range of Ca concentrations, whereas vermiculite showed partial irreversibility at higher Cs concentrations.

Electrochemical degradation of indigo carmine by low voltage pulse electrolysis

Wei Zhan et al.

Summary: The degradation of indigo carmine in aqueous solution was investigated using low voltage pulse electrolysis. The experimental variables, including initial pH, NaCl addition, charging voltage/frequency, and initial concentration of indigo carmine, were found to affect the total organic carbon (TOC) removal efficiency. The study identified intermediates formed during the degradation and proposed a degradation pathway. The low voltage pulse electrolysis-based electrochemical oxidation technique shows promise for the treatment of textile wastewater.

Comparison of Cr(VI) adsorption and photocatalytic reduction efficiency using leonardite powder

Hudaverdi Arslan et al.

Summary: In this study, the removal of Cr(VI) from the aquatic environment using leonardite as an adsorbent and photocatalyst was investigated. The effects of solution pH, particle size, adsorbent dose, and initial concentration on the removal efficiency were studied. The results showed that leonardite achieved complete removal of Cr(VI) in both adsorption and photocatalytic processes, and the reuse of leonardite powder was also explored.

Modelization and implementation of free adsorption and electrosorption of Cr (VI) from wastewater using Al2O3 nanoparticles: assessment and comparison of the two processes

Wafa Sassi et al.

Summary: The study aimed to enhance the adsorption capacity of nanoparticles, shorten the purification time and cost of contaminated waters using electrosorption technique. Results showed that adsorption of Cr (VI) on nano-Al2O3 occurred on a homogenous surface, and electrosorption process had a higher adsorption yield compared to free adsorption. However, the electrosorption process caused the loss of crystallinity in Al2O3 nanoparticles.

Improving photocatalyst performance of CdTiO3 via binary Co@CdTiO3 and ternary Co@CdTiO3@S nanocomposites utilizing synergistic effect of adsorption-photocatalytic under sunlight

Tayebeh Tavakoli-Azar et al.

Summary: Binary and ternary nanocomposites of Co@CdTiO3 (Co@CTO) and Co@CdTiO3@S (Co@CTO@S) were synthesized and characterized. Co@CTO@S showed the highest photocatalytic performance in degrading Crystal-Violet dye as a pollutant, attributed to factors such as higher surface area and reduced band-gap energy. Kinetics studies revealed that the degradation of dye followed pseudo-second-order kinetics with a significantly faster degradation rate compared to other catalysts. Reusability and stability tests indicated that Co@CTO@S remained stable after multiple cycles.

Wafa Sassi et al.

Summary: The study used an artificial neural network and central composite design model to determine the optimal electroplating conditions for Ni-based alloys, including current density, pH, and temperature. The theoretically optimal conditions were found to be 42 mA cm(-2) current density, pH 4.5, and 50 degrees Celsius. XPS and XRD analyses showed that these conditions would result in homogeneous and compact alloy structures, as well as stable Ni-alloy crystallinity.
