Superior dehydrogenation performance of Mg-based alloy under electropulsing

Guozhu Zhang et al.

Summary: Hydrogen energy is gaining prominence as a feasible technological approach for promoting global energy transformation. Electropulsing treatment has been found to improve the dehydrogenation kinetic performance of solid hydrogen storage materials by reducing the initial dehydrogenation temperature and increasing the dehydrogenation rate.

Strain rate sensitivity of hydrogen-assisted ε-martensitic transformation and associated hydrogen embrittlement in high-Mn steel

Chunxi Hao et al.

Summary: This study investigates the promotion of deformation-induced gamma-epsilon martensitic transformation by hydrogen charging at various strain rates. Hydrogen charging and decreasing strain rates both enhance the martensitic transformation, while hydrogen also increases hydrogen embrittlement susceptibility. Hydrogen uptake deteriorates resistance to crack initiation and propagation, with the primary effect of decreasing strain rates being the acceleration of crack propagation.

Effects of hydrogen on the deformation mechanism of face-centred cubic Fe-C single crystal with nanovoid: A molecular dynamics simulation

Ye Jiao et al.

Summary: This study investigates the deformation mechanisms of face-centred cubic Fe-C single crystal with nanovoid containing hydrogen at various contents by molecular dynamics tensile simulations. It is found that the addition of hydrogen affects dislocation slip and martensitic transformation, leading to increased dislocation mobility and hydrogen embrittlement. The study suggests that void defects with sharp corners could induce premature plastic deformation in fcc crystals.

Improvement in tensile properties of pre-strained steel specimen by applying pulsed electric current

Anuranjan Kumar et al.

Summary: This study aims to improve the mechanical properties of pre-strained steel specimens by applying pulsed electric current. The experimental results show that electro-pulsing parameters play a crucial role in damage recovery, with even a small change in pulse duration impacting the tensile properties significantly. Damage healing and mechanical properties improvement are observed due to factors like Joule heating, thermal compressive stress, annihilation of dislocations, and collapse of microvoids.
