Ascorbic acid (AA) is commonly used but its extensive application can lead to diseases. Researchers have synthesized pyrite FeS2/SiO2 hollow spheres, which have a larger surface area and better peroxidase-like activity compared to pyrite FeS2. These hollow spheres can detect AA with a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.026 µM in just 1 minute.
Ascorbic acid (AA) is widely used in different fields, which causes diseases for extensive application. It is necessary to accurately and rapidly detect the content of AA. Pyrite FeS2/SiO2 hollow spheres were synthesized. The composite shows the improved surface area and the electrostatic attraction for the substrate compared with that of pyrite FeS2. And it exhibited excellent peroxidase-like activity than that of pyrite FeS2 and was used to detect AA with a limit of detection (LOD) as small as 0.026 mu M for 1 min.
