In this paper, WO3 rods prepared by sol-gel method were used to modify the electrode for electrochemical sensing of dopamine. The WO3-modified electrode showed good detection limit and sensitivity, as well as selectivity, stability, and repeatability for dopamine determination.
In recent years, electrochemical techniques are widely used for the detection of environmental pollutants and biomolecules. Dopamine (DA) plays important role in the functioning of hormonal, central nervous and cardiovascular systems. In this paper, we have prepared WO3 rods via sol-gel method. The physiochemical properties of the prepared WO(3 )rods were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microcopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Further, active surface area of the screen printed electrode (SPE) was modified with WO3 rods (WO3/SPE). This WO3/SPE was explored as electrochemical sensor for the determination of DA. The WO3/SPE showed decent detection limit (DL) of 0.87 mu M along with good sensitivity of 3.66 mu A/mu M cm(2) using square wave voltammetry (SWV). The WO3/SPE also exhibited good selectivity, stability, and repeatability towards the determination of DA.
