Computational study on noncovalent interactions between (n, n) single-walled carbon nanotubes and simple lignin model-compounds

Jan Badorrek et al.

Summary: In this study, density functional theory was used to investigate the fundamental noncovalent interaction strength between metallic (n, n) single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) and simple lignin model molecules. The data showed that most interaction strength trends appear to be strongly influenced by geometry, with a flat orientation of the test molecules relative to the SWCNT surface and a small SWCNT curvature enhancing the CH-pi and pi-pi interactions.

Electron Mobility of Diketopyrrolopyrrole Copolymers Is Robust against Homocoupling Defects

Qian Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigates homocoupling defects in copolymers made from TzDPPTz and F4, finding that these defects cause bathochromically shifted absorption spectra, decreased photoluminescence, and lower LUMO energy levels. However, thin film morphology, nanostructure, and electron mobility were minimally impacted. Theoretical calculations suggest that the localization of the highest occupied molecular orbital on the hc defect does not affect electron transport, making PTzDPPTzF4 a robust electron-transporting copolymer.

Hydrogen Bonds Control Single-Chain Conformation, Crystallinity, and Electron Transport in Isoelectronic Diketopyrrolopyrrole Copolymers

Qian Wang et al.

Summary: The study investigates the influence of intramolecular hydrogen bonding on different conformation, molecular, structural, and opto-electronic characteristics of ThDPPTh and TzDPPTz. The copolymers PThDPPThF4 and PTzDPPTzF4 exhibit distinct backbone conformations and structural properties, leading to 20 times larger field-effect electron mobilities for PThDPPThF4. The differences in structural properties significantly affect the opto-electronic properties of the copolymers.

Synthesis and characterization of an electron-deficient conjugated polymer based on pyridine-flanked diketopyrrolopyrrole

Jialin Yang et al.

Summary: The study focused on the design and synthesis of all-acceptor polymer P(PyDPP2OD-2Tz) and compared it with other polymers. Measurement of its performance characteristics revealed that P(PyDPP2OD-2Tz) exhibited good thermal stability, suggesting potential for increased carrier mobility and improved device performance.

Strategies and concepts in n-doped conjugated polymer thermoelectrics

Teck Lip Dexter Tam et al.

Summary: In recent years, there has been a groundbreaking improvement in the thermoelectric performance of n-doped conjugated polymers, with the power factor increasing from 10(-1) μW m(-1) K-2 using traditional materials to 80 μW m(-1) K-2 using new polymers and dopants. This review discusses the various strategies and concepts in chemical structure engineering that have led to this significant enhancement in performance, as well as considerations for device stability and contact resistance.
