Effect of static magnetic field bias on dynamic hysteresis loops of a magnetic nanoparticle suspension

Reisho Onodera et al.

Summary: This study investigated the dynamic hysteresis loops of Fe3O4 suspension under different amplitudes of AC magnetic field (AMF) and simultaneously applied parallel DC magnetic fields (DC-MF). The results showed that the dynamic magnetization induced by a small AMF had a similar gradient to the thermal equilibrium magnetization at a large DC-MF, but with a smaller slope. At large amplitudes of AMF, the addition of DC-MF only caused simple shifts in the hysteresis curves. The reduction in the loop area due to the application of DC-MF was suppressed at high AMF amplitudes.

Effect of easy axis alignment on dynamic magnetization of immobilized and suspended magnetic nanoparticles

Ahmed L. Elrefai et al.

Summary: The alignment of easy axes significantly impacts the magnetization curves and harmonic spectra of magnetic nanoparticles, highlighting its importance in biomedical applications. A distribution function can be used to express the degree of easy axis alignment, aiding in the quantitative evaluation of magnetic nanoparticle performance in biomedical applications.

Revisiting Polymer-Particle Interaction in PEO Solutions

A. Espasa-Valdepenas et al.

Summary: In this study, the electrophoretic mobility and diffusion coefficient of carboxylate-modified and sulfate-modified polystyrene latex particles in poly(ethylene oxide) aqueous solutions were measured. The presence of a bound polymeric layer on carboxylate-modified polystyrene particles was found to affect their mobility and diffusion, which was not observed in sulfate-modified particles. Computer simulations confirmed the interaction between the carboxylate-modified particle surface and macromolecules, highlighting the importance of particle selection in microrheology experiments.

Properties of assembly of superparamagnetic nanoparticles in viscous liquid

N. A. Usov et al.

Summary: Detailed calculations of the specific absorption rate (SAR) of dilute iron oxide nanoparticles with effective uniaxial anisotropy dispersed in a liquid were performed, showing different behaviors depending on particle diameters and the alternating magnetic field, with the relationship to viscosity being dependent on nanoparticle size. The behavior of SAR was explained by viscous and magnetic oscillation modes, with SAR practically independent of viscosity in the magnetic mode.

Rheological studies on polymer networks with static and dynamic crosslinks

Takuya Katashima

Summary: The rheological properties of polymer networks are strongly influenced by two types of crosslink structures - static and dynamic. The understanding of the molecular origin of these properties remains incomplete. Studies on static networks reveal cross-effects of strains in different directions even in networks without defects. Meanwhile, investigations on dynamic networks show that conventional molecular models are not suitable for describing their rheological properties.
