Prospective associations between subjective age and fear of falling in older adults

Herve Fundenberger et al.

Summary: This study revealed a relationship between subjective age and Fear of Falling (FoF). It found that higher subjective age is associated with a 24% increased likelihood of developing FoF 7 years later. Depressive symptoms, self-rated health, and physical inactivity were identified as mediators in the association between subjective age and FoF.

The effect of the interaction between fall-related self-efficacy and gait function on the occurrence of falls in community-dwelling older people

Naoto Kamide et al.

Summary: The study examined the interaction between fall-related self-efficacy and gait parameters on falls in older adults living in the community. It was found that smaller changes in gait parameters were associated with higher odds of falls in individuals with high self-efficacy, while changes in gait parameters did not affect falls in those with low self-efficacy.
