Relation between Charging Times and Storage Properties of Nanoporous Supercapacitors

Timur Aslyamov et al.

Summary: This study develops a nanoscale dynamic electrolyte model to describe the static capacitance and time-dependent charging process of supercapacitors. It finds that the charging time is significantly dependent on the pore size and provides analytical expressions for the relations between time scales and electrode parameters, applied potential, and the final state of the confined electrolyte.

Impact of asymmetries in valences and diffusivities on the transport of a binary electrolyte in a charged cylindrical pore

Summary: Ion transport in porous media is of great significance in various technologies. This study investigates the consequences of asymmetries in ion properties on ion and salt transport in a charged cylindrical pore. The research reveals the coupling between charge and salt transport and the effects of ion diffusivity asymmetries on salt dynamics.

A finite-volume method for fluctuating dynamical density functional theory

Antonio Russo et al.

Summary: The finite-volume numerical scheme introduced is used to solve stochastic gradient flow equations and simulate the impact of thermal fluctuations on physical phenomena. Through a hybrid space discretization and time integrators, the scheme ensures positivity of the density algorithm and accurately reproduces the statistical properties of physical systems.

Surface Charge Density in Electrical Double Layer Capacitors with Nanoscale Cathode-Anode Separation

Leying Qing et al.

Summary: Using dynamic density functional theory, the charging dynamics, equilibrium structure, and energy storage in nanoscale electrical double layer capacitors with slit geometry were studied. It was found that charge neutrality did not hold during the dynamic charging process or at the final equilibrium state for small separations. Factors such as ion distribution, concentration, cathode-anode separation, and applied voltage impact surface charge density and charge accumulation within the half-cell.
