The virtual physical exam in the 21st century

Ali M. Ansary et al.

Summary: The modern Western medical encounter has a strict framework integrating subjective and objective components for diagnosis, with the emergence of new technology like virtual healthcare, the components for diagnosis are evolving. While virtual physical exams have limitations compared to traditional exams, the high patient satisfaction with virtual consultations is increasing. Data shows that real-time video telemedicine enhances access and prolongs patient-provider relationships, potentially driving further adoption of telemedicine. However, there is limited data on the validity of virtual examinations compared to traditional physical exams.
