Resource Allocation With Workload-Time Windows for Cloud-Based Software Services: A Deep Reinforcement Learning Approach

Xing Chen et al.

Summary: To ensure QoS and reduce resource costs, adaptive resource allocation is needed for cloud-based software services. We propose a Deep Reinforcement learning based resource Allocation method with workload-time Windows (DRAW) that considers both current and future workloads. By training a Deep Q-Network (DQN) based prediction model and using a feedback-control mechanism, DRAW can generate accurate management operation predictions and construct optimal resource allocation plans. Extensive simulations show that DRAW achieves a prediction accuracy of 90.69% and outperforms other classic methods by 3% to 13% in various scenarios.

Liyong Fu et al.

Summary: In this article, a new robust discriminant subspace (RDS) learning method is presented for feature extraction. The method uses a different objective function formulation to ensure the subspace is both robust and discriminative. An efficient nongreedy iterative algorithm is proposed to solve the challenging optimization problem. The experimental results on image classification databases demonstrate the effectiveness of RDS.
