The prevalence and impact of adolescent hospitalization to adult psychiatric units

Samantha McRae et al.

Summary: The study found that nearly one in four adolescent psychiatric admissions occurs on an adult psychiatric unit. Looking for the Good Timing: Predictors of Length of Stay and Therapeutic Outcomes in Adolescent Inpatients with Severe or Treatment-Refractory Mood Disorders

Xavier Benarous et al.

Summary: The study found that the length of stay during inpatient treatment for adolescents with severe mood disorders is impacted by the duration of the current episode and the initial level of functioning at admission. Furthermore, functional improvement is best predicted by the diagnosis of bipolar disorder, lower functioning at admission, and greater illness severity.

Exploring recovery-focused educational programmes for advancing mental health nursing: An integrative systematic literature review

Tahani Hawsawi et al.

Summary: This review synthesized evidence of the effectiveness of recovery-focused educational programmes for mental health nurses, identifying 35 programmes and 55 educational materials within 39 studies. Three themes and nine subthemes were revealed, including a framework for understanding and supporting consumers' recovery, contents of educational materials, and nurses' learning experiences. Further research is needed to investigate the effectiveness of the proposed mental health nursing recovery-focused educational programme framework.
