Ultrahigh Adsorption of Toxic Substances from Cigarette Smoke Using Nanocellulose-SiO2 Hybrid Aerogels

Jinsong Zeng et al.

Summary: In this study, a cellulose nanofiber-SiO2 hybrid aerogel cigarette (CSG) filter was prepared using a simple directional frozen technology, which showed ultrahigh adsorption capacity for toxic substances in cigarette smoke. The CSGs exhibited improved mechanical and thermal stability compared to pure cellulose nanofiber aerogels. Furthermore, the CSG filter tips showed excellent adsorption efficiency for tar, total particulate matter, nicotine, and CO from cigarette smoke.

Cellulose nanofibrils (CNFs) produced by different mechanical methods to improve mechanical properties of recycled paper

Fugang Hu et al.

Summary: The morphology and length of cellulose nanofibers (CNFs) have a significant impact on their reinforcement effect in recycled paper, with higher aspect ratios leading to better reinforcement. CNFs produced by microfluidic homogenization and suitable PFI milling conditions showed the best reinforced effect, improving tensile index and burst index significantly. This study aimed to investigate the influence of CNFs on reinforcing recycled fibers.

Preparation and characterization of air nanofilters based on cellulose nanofibers

Sima Sepahvand et al.

Summary: This study aimed to develop a novel nanofilter based on cellulose nanofibers and chitosan for air purification, with increased concentration of modified CNFs to enhance CO2 and PM adsorption efficiency. Structural and chemical properties, as well as the adsorption efficiency of CO2 and PM, were examined, revealing that 2% modified CNF exhibited the highest adsorption of CO2 and PM.
