Doubly modified MWCNTs embedded in polyethersulfone (PES) ultrafiltration membrane and its anti-fouling performance

PES mixed-matrix ultrafiltration membranes incorporating ZIF-8 and poly (ionic liquid) by microemulsion synthetic with flux and antifouling properties

Summary: Polyethersulfone (PES) mixed-matrix membranes (MMMs) with ZIF-8 and poly(ionic liquid) as co-nanofillers were fabricated using a simple one-pot microemulsion strategy to enhance flux and anti-fouling properties. The addition of poly(VeimBF4) and ZIF-8 nanoparticles increased pore size and hydrophilicity of the MMMs, resulting in improved water flux and flux recovery rate. Compared to PES ultrafiltration membrane, the MMMs showed significantly higher pure water flux and flux recovery rate.

Hydrophilic PAA-g-MWCNT/TiO2@PES nano-matrix composite membranes: Anti-fouling, antibacterial and photocatalytic

Summary: A new nano matrix composite membrane with fouling resistance, photocatalysis, and antibacterial properties was successfully synthesized in this study. With a certain amount of AMT, the membrane exhibited the highest anti-pollution rate and flux recovery rate, as well as high degradation efficiency of dyes and antibacterial rate. Therefore, the AMTP nano matrix composite membrane has great potential in wastewater recovery and recycling.

Reinforcement of polypropylene by cellulose microfibers modified with polydopamine and octadecylamine

Summary: Cellulose microfibers modified with polydopamine and octadecylamine showed improved dispersibility and reinforcing effects in polypropylene matrix. Proper alkylation can enhance the tensile modulus of the composite, while excess alkylation may decrease the performance. Composites fabricated by injection molding exhibited better tensile properties compared to those prepared by batch mixing.

Carboxylated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs-COOH)-intercalated graphene oxide membranes for highly efficient treatment of organic wastewater

Summary: Composite membranes of GO/CNTs with fine hierarchical nanostructure were successfully fabricated by intercalation of MWCNTs-COOH into GO nanosheets, showing efficient organic wastewater treatment with high rejection and permeated flux towards methylene blue dye solutions. The membranes exhibited nearly 10-fold water permeated flux improvement compared to pristine GO membranes, with electrostatic interaction and size exclusion effects contributing to the efficient separation properties against different types of dyes and organic molecules.

Polysulfone with glycopolymer for development of antifouling ultrafiltration membranes

Summary: Various ultrafiltration membranes were fabricated with different weight ratios of PSF and PVP, showing improved fouling resistance and permeation performance after chemical treatment. The tri-polymer blend UF membranes exhibited high BSA rejection and oil rejection, while the composite membranes demonstrated good flux for both BSA solution and oil-water feeds.

Summary: Novel gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs) based on blends of PVDF and synthesized organic-inorganic hybrid nanoparticles were prepared by phase inversion process. The nanocomposites exhibited more amorphous regions, high porosity, and large electrolyte uptake. Among them, GPE-S3 doped with SiO2-P(MMA-co-UPy) showed the best performance due to synergistic effects of the hybrid nanoparticles and the unique physical network with functional groups.

Preparation of a PES/PFSA-g-MWCNT ultrafiltration membrane with improved permeation and antifouling properties

Summary: In this study, PFSA was grafted on MWCNTs to obtain nanocomposites, which were then used as additives to prepare PES/PFSA-g-MWCNT UF membranes via a NIPS method. The SEM images showed that the dispersion of PFSA-g-MWCNTs in the membrane improved, and the mechanical and thermal properties of the composite membranes were enhanced with increasing nanocomposite content. The performance of the UF membrane was evaluated using BSA, showing improved permeation and antifouling properties in membranes with higher nanocomposite content.
