Towards prediction of ordered phases in rechargeable battery chemistry via group-subgroup transformation

Yunbing Ran et al.

Summary: In this study, a group-subgroup transformation method was utilized to predict ordered ground states, successfully reproducing a series of Li-Co-O phases and identifying the stablest dilute phase Li-C6 in Li-ion intercalated graphite. Furthermore, the Li/La/vacancy ordering in Li3xLa2/3-xTiO3 was resolved to explain the observed Li-ion diffusion anisotropy, providing important insights into rechargeable battery chemistry.

Metal-N4@Graphene as Multifunctional Anchoring Materials for Na-S Batteries: First-Principles Study

Kaishuai Yang et al.

Summary: The study identified Fe-N-4@graphene as a promising anchoring material for adsorbing NaPSs and improving the efficiency of Na-S batteries. The doping of transition metal iron significantly enhances electronic conductivity and adsorption strength, while reducing decomposition energies, thereby promoting battery performance. This research provides insights into the anchoring mechanism and electrocatalytic effects, which could benefit the development of high-performance Na-S batteries.

Robust and efficient calculation of activation energy by automated path search and density functional theory

Koki Ueno et al.

Summary: The study proposes a method for efficiently evaluating the activation energy of ionic diffusion by calculating a potential-energy surface, searching for the optimal diffusion path using dynamic programming, and calculating the corresponding activation energy using the nudged elastic band method. By applying this method to beta-Li3PS4, the activation energy of Li-ion diffusion in different directions was successfully calculated.
