V-Ag doped ZnO nanorod as high-performance electrode material for supercapacitors with enhanced specific capacitance and cycling stability

P. Nethaji et al.

Summary: In this study, V-Ag co-doped ZnO nanorods were synthesized for high-performance supercapacitors using a one-step sol-gel method. The effects of doping on the morphology, structure, electrochemical performance, and long-term cycle of ZnO were investigated. The V0.07Ag0.07ZnO electrode exhibited excellent specific capacitance and charging-discharging capabilities, making it highly attractive for future energy conversion and storage systems.

Nanomaterial and Aptamer-Based Sensing: Target Binding versus Target Adsorption Illustrated by the Detection of Adenosine and ATP on Metal Oxides and Graphene Oxide

Anand Lopez et al.

Summary: The research found that only ATP could induce desorption of aptamer on certain metal oxide nanoparticles, while adenosine produced more desorption on graphene oxide. Additionally, competitive target adsorption led to the desorption of DNA instead of aptamer binding.

Insights into paracetamol degradation in aqueous solutions by ultrasound-assisted heterogeneous electro-Fenton process: Key operating parameters, mineralization and toxicity assessment

Farshid Ghanbari et al.

Summary: This study explored the potential of degrading the pharmaceutical pollutant paracetamol in the aqueous environment using Fe2O3 nanoparticles as a catalyst under ultrasound-assisted electro-Fenton conditions. The results showed efficient degradation of paracetamol under specific conditions. Nitrate ions inhibited the degradation process, while chloride ions had minimal impact. The Fe2O3 nanoparticles showed high catalytic activity compared to other conventional transition metals.

Hg(II) Adsorption on Gold Nanoparticles Dominates DNA-Based Label-Free Colorimetric Sensing

Yufang Hu et al.

Summary: The study focused on the interaction between Hg(II) and AuNPs, showing that Hg(II) affected the color change of AuNPs and promoted DNA adsorption, indicating that the interaction between Hg(II) and AuNPs was the dominant factor. It is important to consider target and AuNP interactions when designing label-free sensors.
