Dural venous system: angiographic technique and correlation with ex vivo investigations

Maksim Shapiro et al.

Summary: This study described methods for visualizing dural venous drainage using digital subtraction angiography and 3D angiography, correlating the findings with existing ex vivo literature. The drainage patterns were found to correlate with venous embryologic investigations of Padget and ex vivo studies in adults, suggesting potential usefulness in the diagnosis and management of dural-based vascular diseases.

Interventional and surgical management of internal jugular venous stenosis: a narrative review

Sharon Pang et al.

Summary: This review explores interventions for intracranial hypertension caused by internal jugular vein stenosis, finding that the most commonly used surgical intervention is styloidectomy with a higher success rate than angioplasty/stenting.

Cerebral neurovascular embryology, anatomic variations, and congenital brain arteriovenous lesions

Jesse M. Klostranec et al.

Summary: This article reviews the process of cerebral neurovascular development, with a focus on vasculogenesis and angiogenesis, as well as the morphogenesis of the cerebral arterial and venous systems. It also examines endothelial genetic mutations affecting angiogenesis and their probable role in the development of congenital brain arteriovenous fistulas.

Venous sinus stenting for the treatment of isolated pulsatile tinnitus: Results of a prospective trial

Athos Patsalides et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that venous sinus stenting is a safe and effective treatment for patients with isolated pulsatile tinnitus due to lateral sinus stenosis. Most patients experienced complete or near-complete resolution of their pulsatile tinnitus post-procedure, with no serious adverse events reported.

Neuroanatomy of cranial dural vessels: implications for subdural hematoma embolization

Maksim Shapiro et al.

Summary: The adoption of middle meningeal artery embolization for chronic subdural hematomas has sparked a renewed interest in dural vascular anatomy. While major dural arteries and their embolization risks are well-documented, intrinsic dural angioarchitecture also plays a significant role in diseases like subdural hematoma and dural fistula, and advances in microvascular visualization are enabling a more comprehensive understanding of dural anatomy.

State of the Art: Venous Causes of Pulsatile Tinnitus and Diagnostic Considerations Guiding Endovascular Therapy

Mohamad Abdalkader et al.

Summary: Venous variants and pathologic abnormalities are common causes of pulsatile tinnitus, often overlooked in clinical workup. Advances in cerebrovascular imaging and endovascular techniques provide improved diagnostic accuracy and therapeutic options for addressing pulsatile tinnitus.
