Construction of novel hexanuclear Co(II) and dinuclear Ni(II) bis(salamo)-type complexes

Shan-Shan Feng et al.

Summary: Two novel homomultinuclear complexes were synthesized and characterized with a newly designed rigid bis(salamo)-type tetraoxime ligand. Complex 1 is a symmetrical six-core cluster structure with Co(II) atoms sandwiched between the ligands, while complex 2 has a dinuclear structure with Ni(II) atoms located in the N2O2 cavities of the ligand. The coordination ratios were determined by studying the fluorescence properties, showing different metal to ligand binding ratios for each complex.

Pd supported on clicked cellulose-modified magnetite-graphene oxide nanocomposite for C-C coupling reactions in deep eutectic solvent

Mahsa Niakan et al.

Summary: A cellulose-modified magnetite-graphene oxide nanocomposite was prepared for immobilization of palladium nanoparticles without additional reducing agent. The nanocomposite showed high stability and uniform dispersion of Pd nanoparticles, with magnetite-graphene oxide providing high specific surface area and easy magnetic separation. The composite served as a sustainable and environmentally benign heterogeneous catalyst for Heck and Sonogashira coupling reactions in various deep eutectic solvents, with the best results observed in a hydrophilic deep eutectic solvent composed of dimethyl ammonium chloride and glycerol.

Summary: An effective method has been developed for the Suzuki coupling reaction of aryl halides and phenylboronic acid using in situ generated nanocellulose supported palladium nanoparticles as heterogeneous catalysts in water. The in situ formed catalyst showed good reusability up to 11 cycles and significant developments in terms of mild reaction conditions, absence of volatile organic solvents, high product isolated yields, and broad substrate scope. The nanocellulose used in this protocol was generated from waste cotton cloth, demonstrating a waste to wealth and sustainable approach.

Two novel tetraphenylethylene-skeleton salamo-type fluorescent probes: specific recognition of cyanide through different response patterns

Yin-Xia Sun et al.

Summary: Two novel salamo-type fluorescent probes based on tetraphenylethylene skeleton were designed and synthesized for specific recognition of cyanide ions. TPES1 exhibited ratio-type fluorescence behavior with double emission peaks, while TPES2 showed continuous increase in fluorescence intensity. The minimum detection limits of TPES1 and TPES2 to CN- were determined to be 8.56 x 10(-8) M and 5.37 x 10(-8) M, respectively. Theoretical calculations suggested that the configuration of probe TPES1 was reversed after interaction with cyanide ions.
