Single crystals of pure and Congo red dye-doped Magnesium Sulphate Heptahydrate were grown using slow evaporation technique. The crystals were characterized for their structural parameters, functional groups, optical properties, and electrical properties. The inclusion of CR dye enhanced the thermal stability and antibacterial activity of the crystals.
Single crystals of pure and Congo red dye-doped Magnesium Sulphate Heptahydrate was grown by slow evaporation technique to improving the characteristics of pure Magnesium Sulphate crystals. The struc-tural parameters, crystalline nature, and their space group Pbnm (62) were calculated from PXRD analysis. The functional groups were characterized from FTIR analysis. The optical identification and defects were elucidated in the UV region cut-off wavelength 230 nm and their wide bandgap at 5.1 eV, respectively. The UV-visible spectrum analysis of dyed crystals revealed a distinctive absorption band at 230-245nm, attributable to the CR dye existence. The non-dyed and CR-hued crystals computed band gaps of 4.98 and 5.1 eV, respectively. The photoluminescence spectra of the CR dyed crystals revealed a blue emission peak at (260) nm. According to a TG/DTA analysis, the inclusion of the dye increased the thermal stability. The electron mobility explained the photoconductivity of grown crystals in the light medium. The material compositions were obtained, and dielectrics were analyzed from various frequencies. The morphological analysis of grown crystals was measured by TEM analysis. Gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria ex-amined the bacterial activity of grown crystals. The dielectric, optical, photoconductivity and biological properties were also enhanced as a result of CR dye doping .(c) 2022 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
