Engineering the atomic interface of porous ceria nanorod with single palladium atoms for hydrodehalogenation reaction

Zhijun Li et al.

Summary: The study describes a simple and efficient approach to create atomically dispersed palladium catalysts, which exhibit excellent catalytic activity and recyclability. Density functional theory calculations reveal that the high activity stems from the spatial isolation of palladium atoms and the modified electronic structure in defect-containing ceria nanorods.

Enhanced photocatalytic H2 production performance of CdS hollow spheres using C and Pt as bi-cocatalysts

Shipeng Tang et al.

Summary: C@CdS-HS, fabricated using C-HS as a template, shows enhanced photocatalytic H-2-generation activity under simulated sunlight irradiation. The synergistic effect of C and Pt as the bi-cocatalyst plays a crucial role in the improved performance. C-HS not only serves as an active site provider, but also functions as an electron transporter and reservoir, with a strong photothermal effect induced by near infrared light.

Fabricating high-loading Fe-N4 single-atom catalysts for oxygen reduction reaction by carbon-assisted pyrolysis of metal complexes

Jun-Sheng Jiang et al.

Summary: In this study, a high-loading (7.5 wt%) Fe-SA/NPC catalyst was successfully prepared by carbon-assisted pyrolysis of metal complexes. The nitrogen-doped porous carbon (NPC) support and ortho-phenylenediamine play key roles in the preparation process, leading to Fe-N-4 coordinated single-atom Fe catalysts with enhanced activity for the oxygen reduction reaction. The optimized catalyst showed promising onset and half-wave potentials, demonstrating the potential for large-scale synthesis of high-loading single-atom catalysts.

Constructing low-cost Ni3C/twin-crystal Zn0.5Cd0.5S heterojunction/homojunction nanohybrids for efficient photocatalytic H2 evolution

Rongchen Shen et al.

Summary: This study combines low-cost metallic Ni3C cocatalysts with twin nanocrystal Zn0.5Cd0.5S (ZCS) solid solution homojunctions to achieve efficient visible-light-driven H-2 evolution. The ZCS-1 heterojunction/homojunction nanohybrid shows the highest photocatalytic H-2-evolution rate, indicating a more efficient photocatalytic H-2 evolution compared to other noble metal photocatalytic systems. The unique strategy of constructing heterojunction/homojunction hybrid nanostructures demonstrates improved catalytic activity for H-2 evolution under visible light.
