Refinement mechanism of cerium addition on solidification structure and sigma phase of super austenitic stainless steel S32654

Shucai Zhang et al.

Summary: The addition of Ce can significantly refine the dendrite structure and sigma phase of super austenitic stainless steel. The refinement mechanism involves effective Ce-bearing inclusions and solute Ce. Ce addition promotes the formation of finer and dispersed sigma phase particles and reduces the temperature and time required for high-temperature homogenization, which is beneficial for hot working.

Effect of nanostructure Fe-Ni-Co spinel oxides/Y2O3 coatings on the high-temperature oxidation behavior of Crofer 22 APU stainless steel interconnect

Fatemeh Saeidpour et al.

Summary: Coatings of Fe-Ni-Co spinel oxides/Y2O3 were obtained on Crofer 22APU alloy to improve the performance of solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) interconnects. The cyclic oxidation test at 800 degrees C for 500 hours showed that the coated steel had higher electrical conductivity and better oxidation resistance compared to bare steel.

Unveiling the mechanism of yttrium-related microstructure inhibiting or promoting high-temperature oxidation based on Ni-Al-Y alloys

Yun Wu et al.

Summary: Yttrium is an advantageous element for enhancing high-temperature oxidation resistance in nickel base alloys. The microstructure of Ni-Al-Y alloys significantly influences the oxidation behaviors, especially in alloys with high yttrium content. Thermodynamic calculations and microstructural characterizations reveal different oxidation layer thicknesses in these alloys, which vary with yttrium and aluminum concentrations.

Achieving high strength and ductility in ODS-W alloy by employing oxide@W core-shell nanopowder as precursor

Zhi Dong et al.

Summary: The aggregation and coarsening of oxide particles at grain boundaries has been a bottleneck for improving the mechanical properties of oxide-dispersion-strengthened (ODS) alloys. In this study, core-shell nanopowder precursors were employed to achieve uniform dispersion of oxides in ODS alloys, resulting in a significant enhancement in strength and ductility of the alloy. This strategy has the potential to be applied to other dispersion-strengthened alloy systems, offering promising prospects for high-temperature applications.
