Gelatin/β-Cyclodextrin Bio-Nanofibers as respiratory filter media for filtration of aerosols and volatile organic compounds at low air resistance

Summary: This study introduces gelatin/beta-cyclodextrin composite nanofiber mats with dual function air filtration ability at reduced air resistance and low basis weight. The nanofibers can efficiently filter aerosols and adsorb harmful VOCs, providing a 'green' dual function respiratory air filtration solution at low resistance. Gelatin/beta-cyclodextrin nanofibers also show potential in filtering nano-sized viruses.

Sensitive Formaldehyde Detection with QCM Sensor Based on PAAm/MWCNTs and PVAm/MWCNTs

Summary: Two formaldehyde detection methods using composite film quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) sensors demonstrate fast reaction, low cost, and ease of manufacture. The PVAm/MWCNTs sensor has a detection limit of 0.5 ppm and a sensitivity of 0.74 ppm/Hz. Different concentrations and proportions of formaldehyde result in varying performance in terms of reuse, gas selectivity, and response at room temperature for the sensors presented.
