Biomass-Derived Carbon Heterostructures Enable Environmentally Adaptive Wideband Electromagnetic Wave Absorbers

Zhichao Lou et al.

Summary: This study presents the design of carbon heterostructures derived from bamboo, which exhibit excellent electromagnetic absorption performance and environmental adaptability. The assembly of nanofibers and nanosheets acts as a nanometer-sized antenna, enhancing the conductive loss. The composition of cellulose and lignin in the precursor significantly affects the assembly shape, the formation of covalent bonds, and the surface hydrophobicity. The obtained carbon heterostructure maintains wideband electromagnetic absorption in real-world environments.

Characterization and optimization of magnetic Gum-PVP/SiO2 nanocomposite hydrogel for removal of contaminated dyes

Asmaa Sayed et al.

Summary: In this study, a Gum-PVP/SiO2 nanocomposite hydrogel was prepared using gamma radiation-induced copolymerization and crosslinking. The structure of the nanocomposite hydrogel was analyzed through FTIR, XRD, and TEM analysis. The crosslinking degree increased with increasing radiation dose. The nanocomposite hydrogel exhibited higher adsorption properties towards basic dyes than acidic dyes.

Nanochemistry approach for the fabrication of Fe and N co-decorated biomass-derived activated carbon frameworks: a promising oxygen reduction reaction electrocatalyst in neutral media

Hassan Karimi-Maleh et al.

Summary: This study successfully improved the performance of the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in neutral media by tailoring a biomass-derived ORR electrocatalyst. The iron- and nitrogen-doped activated carbon framework showed superior ORR activity and long-term stability. The catalyst also demonstrated lower onset potential and better resistance to sulfur poisoning compared to the traditional platinum-based catalyst, paving the way for the development of low-cost nanocatalysts.
