The mechanisms of interfacial charge transfer and photocatalysis reaction over Cs3Bi2Cl9 QD/(BiO)2CO3 heterojunction

Guo Zhang et al.

Summary: The study shows that the C-B-1 heterojunction efficiently separates charges under light irradiation, promoting more charge participation in the photocatalytic process. The NO purification rate of this structure is 35.0% higher than that of (BiO)2CO3, providing new insights for the application of photocatalytic technology in air pollution control.

Inter-facet junction effects on particulate photoelectrodes

Xianwen Mao et al.

Summary: Through the use of multimodal functional imaging, this study reveals the effects of inter-facet junctions on anisotropically shaped bismuth vanadate particles, demonstrating how chemical doping can modulate the widths of near-edge surface transition zones and ultimately alter particle performance. This research provides insights into quantitative particle-size engineering principles and shows surprising multiphasic size dependences of whole-particle photoelectrode performance, paving the way for a deeper understanding and engineering of electronic and photoelectrochemical properties in semiconductor materials.

Efficient Electron Transfer by Plasmonic Silver in SrTiO3 for Low-Concentration Photocatalytic NO Oxidation

Zhen Chen et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that photocatalysis is a feasible option for controlling low-concentration NO emissions from industrial burning facilities. Distributing plasmonic silver particles with the (111) orientation uniformly on the Ti-O termination of the SrTiO3 (STO) (100) plane significantly increases the NO conversion rate and reduces the formation of toxic NO2. This high performance is attributed to the unique property of the localized surface plasmonic resonance of silver particles and the formation of a heterojunction.

Synergistically boosting highly selective CO2-to-CO photoreduction over BiOCl nanosheets via in-situ formation of surface defects and non-precious metal nanoparticles

Siwen Gong et al.

Summary: A hollow hierarchical BiOCl with highly exposed nanosheets was synthesized using a gas-bubble-template strategy, followed by in-situ introduction of oxygen vacancies and metallic bismuth nanoparticles through thermal treatment in N2. The Bi0/OVs-BOCs showed high selectivity and increased yield in CO2 photoreduction tests, with nearly four times higher efficiency compared to the original BOC. The synergistic effect of in-situ formed OVs and metal nanoparticles was found to significantly enhance the photocatalytic activity and selectivity of solar energy materials.
