Accelerated toluene degradation over forests around megacities in southern China

Qinqin Li et al.

Summary: Toluene, a common anthropogenic pollutant, shows unexpectedly low concentrations in a subtropical forest near a major urban area in southern China. Air masses from urban areas have higher toluene levels and faster degradation rates, indicating the role of forests in accelerating the removal of pollutants from the atmosphere.

Quantification of Regional Ozone Pollution Characteristics and Its Temporal Evolution: Insights from Identification of the Impacts of Meteorological Conditions and Emissions

Leifeng Yang et al.

Summary: This study revealed that ozone pollution is characterized by stations surrounded with similar ozone levels, indicating a state of aggregation. The statistical analysis showed that ozone levels were independent of meteorological conditions, but closely related to local and non-local contributions, with temporal variations being primarily driven by local sources.
