Statistics of Jet Drop Production

A. Berny et al.

Summary: Based on high fidelity numerical simulations and experimental validation, it is found that the production of jet drops from bursting bubbles is influenced by factors such as bubble size and visco-capillary length. The number and size of the jet drops depend on bubble characteristics, with consideration for temperature variations.

Bubble-mediated transfer of dilute gas in turbulence

Palas Kumar Farsoiya et al.

Summary: Gas exchange mediated by bubbles in turbulent flow is important for various applications, including chemical reactors and ocean-atmosphere interaction. The transfer rate from a single bubble in turbulence has been characterized, showing that mass transfer occurs within a thin diffusive boundary layer at the bubble-liquid interface. A non-dimensional transfer rate has been proposed based on the turbulent Peclet number, and theoretical predictions have been verified by numerical simulations, demonstrating good agreement when the boundary layer is properly resolved.
