Possible Beneficial Effects of N-Acetylcysteine for Treatment of Triple-Negative Breast Cancer

Youngjoo Kwon

Summary: N-acetylcysteine (NAC) is a widely used antioxidant with therapeutic potential, however, concerns have been raised regarding its cancer-promoting effects observed in some preclinical studies. The beneficial effects of NAC may depend on whether the type of cancer relies on ROS signaling for survival and metastasis, therefore including NAC in standard chemotherapy could provide additional benefits for TNBC patients.

Solution self-assembly of fluorinated polymers, an overview

Marc Guerre et al.

Summary: Fluoropolymers have remarkable properties such as high resistance to chemicals, UV, and heat, as well as ferroelectricity and piezoelectricity. The incorporation of fluorinated moieties can confer unique properties, leading to self-assembly in solution and original morphologies with rare properties. Advances in organic and polymer chemistry have allowed for the design of fluorinated copolymer architectures.

Functional Nanocarriers for Drug Delivery by Surface Engineering of Polymeric Nanoparticle Post-Polymerization-Induced Self-Assembly

Heba Asem et al.

Summary: In this study, engineered polymeric nanoparticles were successfully designed and prepared using a reversible addition-fragmentation chain-transfer mediated emulsion polymerization via polymerization-induced self-assembly method. Surface engineering of the nanoparticles post-PISA was achieved, leading to biofunctionalization and confirmed low cytotoxicity. Additionally, the nanoparticles demonstrated excellent drug loading and controlled release properties, highlighting their potential as carriers for targeted drug delivery.

Polymerisation-induced self-assembly (PISA) as a straightforward formulation strategy for stimuli-responsive drug delivery systems and biomaterials: recent advances

Hien Phan et al.

Summary: Stimuli-responsive amphiphilic block copolymers have shown promise as nanocarriers for on-demand drug release, but challenges remain in their preparation methods. Polymerisation-induced self-assembly (PISA) offers a straightforward and efficient approach for producing polymer nanoparticles, potentially serving as an effective strategy for tailored drug delivery systems and biomaterials.
